At 19 years old, Brit traveled to Haiti on a mission trip. Tragically, an earthquake struck killing 300,000 including Brit. Prior to her death, she had fallen in love with the children in Haiti and texted her mother saying that someday she would like to start an orphanage.
What is Be Like Brit?
Our mission is to continue the compassion of Britney Gengel by serving the children of Haiti through sustaining a safe, nurturing home rooted in the virtues of Faith, Hope and Love while developing a sense of social responsibility, community involvement and unconditional love. We are raising the next generation of leaders in Haiti!!!
Not allowing her to die in vain, Brit's parents, Len and Cherylann, decided to fulfill her last wish. With the help of thousands of people across the world, Brit's Home in Haiti was built: 19,000 square feet, self-sustaining (micro-farm and solar panels), and shaped in the letter "B".
Today, there are 33 boys and 33 girls living in Brit's Home. The number 33 is symbolic of the 33 days Brit was missing in the earthquake. Our vision is crystal clear, as we are raising the next generation of leaders in Haiti and continuing the compassion of Britney Gengel.
