Behind The Scenes The Kitchen At Brits Home

If you’ve been to Brit’s Home, you definitely have met at least 1 member of our kitchen staff. Every day the team makes breakfast, lunch, and dinner for our 66 children, prepares snacks for our children to bring to school, and meals for our 100+ staff! The amount of work they do is incredible. Our Britsionarys have been known to give them a standing ovation at the end of the week so they know how much we appreciate them!

Last year, our kitchen received a beautiful makeover with awesome new stoves, refrigerators, deep fryers, and more. It looks fabulous! I might be bias, but I think we have one of the best kitchens in Haiti! One of the chores we have for the children is helping in the kitchen, and they love it! Whether it is preparing for a meal, cleaning dishes, or mopping the floor, they know it is important to help out and take care of their home. The older children even have a cooking class. They are learning to make the signature BLB cakes, baked ziti, pancakes, and more. We’re always learning something new here at Brit’s Home!

Something I love about the kitchen is the positive, loving energy. Anyone who walks in, is greeted with a Bonswa!, How are you? How is your family? Our staff is eager to know you and have a conversation, in Creole or English! (They have a special English class every afternoon with one of our teachers). They are truly special ladies.

Now that you know a little bit about our kitchen, learn more about a few of the members of our kitchen staff! Thank you to Madona and Jess who helped with these interviews. And keep an eye out on our Facebook and Youtube page for a special video from the kitchen at Brit’s Home! Coming soon!
