What a great week we have had here in Worcester! Yes, the sun was finally out which makes us all so happy but it was made even better by all the people coming by the OC either volunteering their time, dropping off donations or just stopping by to say hello.  I love going to work everyday, not just because I work with an incredible group of ladies, but because I never know how the day is going to go or who is coming by.

Just a few (and I mean just a few) of the volunteers that came this week were Wendy & Nancy, who both are helping us with data entry which helps us to keep up to date on all of our donors & volunteers; Lauren & Charlie who helped organize the piles of donations, cleaned up outside & planted our flowers and then the students from the Central MA Special Education Collaborative who helped with sorting even more donations.

We loved meeting 14yr old Connor, who drove from Rhode Island with his mom to drop off soccer balls & pinnies for our children. Special thanks to the Worcester Technical High School Football Team for holding a fundraiser for us during their season.  Coach Jeff Lane and parent Matt Ahaesy (who donated Patriot Tickets) came by the OC to present us with the donation; love the students, staff and parent support at Worcester Tech!

On Thursday I was so lucky to be asked to read to the preschoolers at Mill Swan Street School for Community Reading Day. They have been learning about BLB from their teacher Liz, who has volunteered at the OC, and I have to tell you how dang cute these 3 & 4 yrs old are! They melted my heart! When I walked in I was greeted with “Bonswa” (hello in Creole)…they had me at the door! They were beyond excited to show “the mommy of their Haiti friends” the bracelets and book they made for our children at BLB. I could have stayed there all day! I was also fortunate enough to back to Venerini Academy for Community Reading Day again this year and speak to the 6th grade class; talk about positive, inquisitive students, it was awesome! The 6th grade collected items from our Wish List and donated them that day. One of the items was left behind, so one of the teachers came by after school with her grandson & his friend to drop it off and to check out the OC.  See what I mean? You just never know what positive thing is going to happen that day!

The more people that help us at the OC means we can help and do more in Haiti.  Not just for our own 66 children, but for our 78 employees at BLB and the community in which we live and for that we are truly grateful!

AND SO IT BEGINS…………….the first love letter

"Darling I love you a lot. I really love you I will give you all my heart, darling.  I love you so much I always dream of you, darling.  I love you so much Dalandya Thanks."

***New items on the Wish List: Hair dye for my incoming grey hair & a book on “How to survive the Teenage Years”***:)

Have a Fabulous week everyone
