Haiti is facing a devastating humanitarian crisis, marked by escalating gang violence, rising hunger, and widespread displacement. The United Nations warns that the situation is "getting worse by the hour" [UN Spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric].
We are grateful for your love and support over the past 14 years and are asking for your good thoughts and prayers sent to the people of Haiti, which is on the verge of collapse!
The numbers tell the story:
1,193 people killed: Since the beginning of 2024, gang violence has claimed the lives of over 1,193 people, with another 692 injured [UN Spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric].
313,000 internally displaced: The violence has forced over 313,000 people to flee their homes, becoming internally displaced within the country.
Healthcare on the brink: Hospitals are struggling to cope with the influx of gunshot victims, often lacking the capacity to provide proper care.
Education and economy crippled: Schools and businesses are closed down, severely impacting education and economic activity.
Children exploited: Gangs are increasingly resorting to using children in their activities, further endangering their future.
Families on the brink of starvation: Families are on the verge of starvation, driven to desperation and seeking basic necessities like food. Each day families including young malnourished children come to our gates begging for food, for help. We provide care packages and resources to help assist. This is our community, our home.
“What is happening is affecting the whole country. You can feel the hopelessness, the grief and despair of those families having to endure all of this day after day.”
