Just beyond the gates of Brit’s Home, between two houses, lives an elderly woman who has quietly endured unimaginable hardship. Frail, sickly, and often hungry, she has long been without the basic comforts of food, clean water, or consistent care. But recently, her story took a meaningful turn thanks to the compassion of our children.

When Saradina, one of our incredible first generation children, learned about this woman’s condition, she was deeply moved. She came to the office with urgency and emotion, pleading for a way to help. “We have to do something,” she insisted. And so she did.

Together with a few others from her group, Saradina led an outreach effort bringing the woman warm meals, gently doing her hair, and most importantly, sitting with her. They went with kindness. They went with love.

At Brit’s Home, we talk often about giving back. But moments like these show us it’s more than just a lesson, it’s something our children live out daily. We are surrounded by community members who, despite being just steps away, live without access to basic needs. This is why we continue to teach our children about the power of their presence, that showing up with compassion, dignity, and empathy can be just as life giving as a plate of food or a warm touch.

Saradina and her peers reminded us that giving back doesn’t always require a grand gesture. Sometimes, it’s found in quiet moments, sharing a meal, brushing someone’s hair, or simply listening. These small acts, repeated over time, create a ripple effect of hope that extends far beyond our home.

Through our Community Outreach Program, we work to support individuals and families in Grand Goâve. But more than anything, we believe in human connection and we’re so proud to see our children taking that belief into the world around them.

Our community is everything to us. And as our children grow, they carry this truth with them: that their presence matters, and that they have the power to be a light for others.
